Over the course of its 30 years of existence, Salón de Gourmets has become a leading Spanish and European haute cuisine trade show. This year, its 30th edition, the trade show will take place 4 to 7 April in Madrid, coinciding with the 40th anniversary celebrations of “Club de Gourmets” magazine and Grupo Gourmets, who organize this annual event.

To mark this double celebration, Salón de Gourmets has sought to revive a historical landmark for Spanish and world cuisine: the first Round Table discussing Gastronomy was held in 1976 and in the course of its four editions it gathered great international chefs to analyze the situation of Spanish gastronomy, regional culinary traditions and the importance of ingredients, among other matters. Now, 40 years after the first Round Table, the Salón de Gourmets is once again the setting for this forum of gastronomic excellence. Under the heading of “5 Gourmet Round Table: 1976-2016”, the event comprises four sessions: Origin, Present and Future of Gastronomy, the Wine-making World, Gastronomy Communication and Gourmet Products.

The chef of Enoteca restaurant, Paco Pérez, joins veteran speakers Juan Mari Arzak, Pedro Subijana and Hilario Arbelaitz, who are returning after participating in the first edition in 1976. The Gourmet Round Table brings together other great names in Spanish cuisine such as Martín Berasategui, Carme Ruscalleda and Andoni Luis Aduriz.

Aside from this historic event, Salón de Gourmets is a key event in the Spanish gastronomy scene. The trade show, held in the IFEMA Recinto Ferial Juan Carlos I, gathers over 1,420 exhibitors, with 35,000 products exhibited and 84,117 trade visitors. Apart from being an extensive showcase for gourmet products, the event will include demonstrations by chefs and sommeliers, and also offers a “Gourmet Senses Workshop” aimed at the general public.
